More and more customers seem to be going for the stained look. Stained floors add an aged look, character and charm to any home or room. There are many different shades to choose from. Staining is a lot more time consuming and can take up to twice as long as a straightforward sand and polyurethane job, therefore the price for stain is a little more expensive.

Some popular staining colours are:

Chocolate Walnut & Dark Walnut Dark Oak Black Bean.

White Washing/Blonding

Where the polyurethane is tinted white and looks like diluted milk that has been poured over the floor.

We can cater for most customers tastes as the polyurethane is only slightly tinted so it can require several layers to achieve the desired shade of white.

Elite Flooring

Commonly known as a maintenance coat. We simply come in, wash your floors with a re-glaze solution, lightly sand and apply one to two coats of the polyurethane of your choice - Gloss, Satin or Low Sheen.

Please be aware that a reglaze cannot be done on a floor which has worn through to the bare timber. You will require having your floor completely re-sanded and re-coated.

Polyurethane Finishes

Spots and Patches
Elite Flooring

Unattractive wear spots and patches are common damages on wooden floors. This occurs when the finish and stain wears away, leaving the wood exposed and bare. Sanding helps with the patch if it’s very small, but for large and unsightly patches, consult with experts. We have a team of specialists when it comes to floor repairs in Auckland.

For households with overly enthusiastic pets or with heavy furnishing constantly being moved around, scratches are a common enemy. While it’s not too much of a problem, it can damage the wooden floor and reduce its worth. Grit on shoes also contributes to scratches so it helps to remove shoes in certain parts of the house. Polishing or floor repair is necessary to bring back a heavily scratched wooden floor’s lost lustre.
